An idiot abroad was one of the funniest TV shows I’d ever seen! Karl Pilkington ‘the empty headed baffoon’ being sent to one of the 7 wonders each week, to see how he’ll fair with the culture of that perticular area of the world. The brains behind this histerical operation is none other than Ricky Gervais and Stephan Merchant. Poor old Karl, he was sent to China to walk the wall and experienced eating toads, then he was sent to India to see the Taj Mahal including all the wonders around it. They then sent him to go to Jordan where he got up to all kinds of antics including swimming in the dead sea with a semi-clothed wise old man, he also had to eat lambs eyeballs and testicles which Ricky and Stephan kindly arranged for him. Karl then went to Mexico which he stated was his favourite trip, because he liked the more relaxed attitude they have there, however he did have to meet real life cowboys, which is one of the funniest things I think i’ve ever seen, he cries out that he just wants to go home as he partakes in a ‘rodeo’ style activity.
Ricky Gervais claims that this is the funniest TV show he’s ever been involved in and absolutley loves Karl for just being Karl, saying things how he sees them no matter how stupid or ridiculous it may sound.
It’s well worth a watch, if you didn’t have the pleasure of watching it when it was on Sky1 do not fret, you can buy the DVD, and its been confirmed that there will be a second series which is being called at the moment ‘An Idiot Abroad: The Bucket List’ it will be a programme where Karl demonstrates certain activities to do before you die. There hasn’t been many details released about the up and coming series but all I do know is that it is going to be unmissable!
